Nira Shirt Ajrakh — Beej
Not every shirt announces itself. This one reveals itself slowly.
The Nira is a relaxed, unisex shirt in Ajrakh — handblock printed and naturally dyed by artisans in Kutch. The Beej block is Fifth Origins' own design, rooted in the idea of a seed. Something small, quietly full of potential, scattered across the cloth in careful repetition.
But look closer and you'll notice something else.
Patches of a second colour appear across the fabric — on the body, the sleeves, the cuffs. Not printed over, not pieced in. Achieved entirely through block printing itself, using a larger block to place one colour inside another.
Indigo sits inside madder. Madder sits inside indigo. The same two colours, the same two blocks — just worn differently depending on which version you choose.
The dyes are all natural. Indigo for blue, madder for red, and a craft that has lived in Kutch for over 400 years — moving through up to 16 steps of printing, dyeing, washing, and drying before the fabric is ready.
The Nira Shirt is part of our Bloom collection, where materials, craft traditions, and design come together slowly — much like the natural world that inspires them.
